Over the weekend of January 9-10, 2010, the heads and members of the Parish Ministries and the Tri-council, composed of the Planning, Implementing and Finance Councils, gathered to discuss and assess the Parish performance for 2009 and plan for 2010. Over the weekend of January 9-10, 2010, the heads and members of the Parish Ministries and the Tri-council, composed of the Planning, Implementing and Finance Councils, gathered to discuss and assess the Parish performance for 2009 and plan for 2010.
Fr. Manny Sarez set the tone by giving the opening prayer and objectives of the 1 ½ days workshop. Mr. Johnny Filart, the head of the Parish Implementing Council gave a summary of the accomplishments of the Parish for the first half of 2009 while Mr. Kiko Josef, the head of the Parish Finance Council, presented the annual expenses across ministries.
The different ministries proceeded with the identification and presentation of their assessment of their areas of strength and areas for improvement. Based on these assessments, plans were mapped out for 2010.
One of the highlights of the parish action plans across ministries for 2010 is the alignment of efforts towards the strengthening of basic ecclesial communities (BEC) in Pansol 1 and 2, Kaingin, Alta Vista, La Vista and Loyola Grand Villas. The Youth Ministry, for example, will actively establish BEC Youth initially zooming in on Pansol and Kaingin. The Family and Life Ministry and the Catechetical Ministry will jointly conduct more catechetical lessons that are focused on family strengthening with the BEC families as the target partners. The Social Service Ministry will continue to provide feeding and livelihood programs to targeted families of the BECs in Pansol and Kaingin. The Formation Ministry shall launch its stewardship program with the BECs as one of the entry points for deepening understanding and appreciation of the core concepts, principles and approaches in the sustained implementation of stewardship for the Church. The Finance Council shall strengthen the institutionalization of funding mechanisms for programs such as the BEC. The Planning Council shall help install the database of the SMDS BECs.
The Pastoral Planning session ended with an offering of one’s tapuy, a traditional Ifugao practice of sharing one’s best wine poured in a common earthen jar. Each participant in the planning cum evaluation session gave their own pledge to remain committed and engaged in the actualization of their plans for the rest of their term in 2010.

In connection with the Diocese’s thrust on the spirituality of stewardship, the Formation Ministry has begun the Parish Stewardship Program through a series of seminars on the Spirituality of Stewardship. To further enlighten the parishioners on this matter, pamphlets on the Spirituality of Stewardship have been and will be distributed to parishioners before every Mass. We enjoin everyone to take the time to read the brief discussion on this very timely topic, as part of our preparation during this Advent Season.
As part of our spiritual preparation during this Advent Season, the Parish will conduct an Advent Recollection entitled “The Kingdom of God: a Call to Faithful Stewardship.” It will be held on December 10, 2009, Thursday, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, at the St. Paul Hall, SMDS. The speaker will be Fr. Manny Sarez. Everyone is invited to come and join in this very timely reflection on our readiness to the coming of our Lord.
On December 12, 2009, Saturday, there will be a Kumpisalang Bayan from7:00 PM onwards. We encourage everyone to come to confession and prepare themselves for the coming Christmas celebration.
On Tuesday, December 8, Feast of the Immaculate Conception, we will be having mass at 6:00 AM, 12:00 Noon, 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

Solemnity of Christ the King
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King. There will be a procession at 6:30 PM following the 5:30 PM mass. All the parishioners are enjoined to attend the procession and bring their own candles.

The Health Program Ministry will conduct a free clinic on Sunday, November 22. Registration starts at 7:30 am and consultations follow immediately until 12:00 nn.
This service is made possible through the kindness of our benefactors and the doctors who have offered their services at no cost. Let us continue to support this program to be able to reach out to more of our less fortunate.
Skilled workers such as carpenters, plumbers, electricians, laundrywomen, cooks, gardeners, caregivers, painters and mechanics are available through the HELPING HANDS PROGRAM of our parish. Please call the parish office for more details.
Month of November
The month of November is dedicated to the prayerful remembrance of our beloved departed. Masses for 9 days will be offered for their souls. Kindly drop your envelopes for the dead in drop boxes located at the church entrances or send to the parish office. Thank you!
A mass will be held at the Garden Sanctuary at 7:30 PM today for our departed loved ones.

Once again, please accept our sincere appreciation and deep gratitude for your untiring support for the flood victims.
For your information, the parish is continually receiving donations in cash and in kind for the flood victims. To date, we have received Php 161,398.00 & US $ 100.00 aside from food and clothing. We’re helping the more than a hundred families affected in our parish and we’re also extending possible assistance to our neighboring towns, Marikina and Pasig.
